Meet Our Growers - Jill Sink

Meet the Faces Behind the Eggs

Meet Jill Sink, the owner of Songbird Farm just outside of Denton, NC. Jill is one of Braswell Family Farms’ partner growers, which means she raises and takes care of the flocks that produce our eggs. Jill has been working on Songbird Farm for 20 years. The farm was originally her father’s, but she can always remember being alongside him helping and learning.

Today, Jill manages the farm of three cage free hen houses with her husband and son, Alex. Together, they start the day collecting eggs at 5:30 a.m., followed by feeding the hens. They feed the hens three more times throughout the day, once at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m., and 7 p.m. They also collect eggs one more time in the evening before calling it a day.

Jill shreds the guitar at one of her shows in the Greensboro area. You can watch Jill’s shows here.

Jill named her farm Songbird because of one of her beloved hobbies, singing. Jill sings lead vocals and plays lead guitar in the Jill Goodson Band – a band that plays mostly classic rock. When she’s not rocking out or collecting eggs, you can find her in her garden planting flowers and vegetables.

Jill’s favorite part of farming is being able to make her own hours, even though sometimes the hens make them for her!

As for her eggs, Jill likes them best scrambled and well done.
